It’s that time of year again, when we are all ready to pack our bags and go on vacation. The great thing about Aveda is that most of their products are available in travel sizes. This not only means its easy to pack, it also means that since they are under 3 oz. you will be able to put them in your carry-on, making them perfectly airport compatable! So before you leave make sure you have these three hair products!

1) Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother

A couple of weeks ago I went on vacation to Florida. If you have ever been there you know that the water quality makes hair a nightmare! Usually by the end of my visit I am ecstatic to go home just to make my hair manageable again, but this was not the case this time! I packed my Style-Prep Smoother, said a little prayer and to my surprise my hair was shiny, soft, and most importantly smooth. This product will give your hair that much needed manageability so you can spend more time relaxing and less time stressing over your hair!

 

2) Phomollient Styling Foam

While on vacation you will probably want to have a night on the town. Whether this entails dinner or a show, adding a bit of volume to your hair can dress up your entire look or even just add that ‘wow’ factor you were missing. Aveda’s Phomollient will give you that volume as well as an added shine. For best results work 3 to 5 pumps of product in your hands and apply evenly, focusing on the roots and then working it throughout the rest of your hair. I would suggest taking small sections of your hair and round brushing it out. If you don’t have a lot of time, just roundbrush the top section of your hair to really get the lift at your root!

 

3) Air Control Hairspray

Whether you’ve used the style-prep smoother, the Phomollient, or both, you are going to want to set your look with hairspray to ensure the style lasts throughout the day! While Aveda carries a wide variety of hairsprays, I lean towards air control for vacations just because it is a lighter hold and it has a really nice smell to it. So after you have achieved your desired style, spray the air control 6-8 inches away so that it is evenly distributed.

Why Shellac Trumps Polish, Gel, and Acrylic | Matthews NC

All of us at diviniti salon have been absolutely spoiled since our nail technician, Leigh, started working here. Now, despite having our hands submerged in water, hair color, and makeup all day, our nails always look healthy and beautiful. People are constantly asking me how I’ve been able to grow my nails so long and I give all the credit to Leigh and her Shellac polish.

Shellac is a hybrid between traditional nail lacquer and gel overlay. It typically lasts for 2 weeks with minimal chipping, has zero drying time, does not damage the nail, and is super shiny.

Shellac is applied a lot like nail lacquer would be- with a base coat, a couple coats of color, and a top coat. But each coat is cured under a UV lamp in order to harden and dry.

When applying Shellac, the natural nail does not need to be “ruffed” or damaged the way that it does when applying acrylic overlay. And Shellac is quickly and easily removed with acetone (in about 15 minutes). There is no need for a drill or other intimidating (and potentially damaging) tools.

Right before I got married, I had acrylic put on my nails. It was the first time I had ever put anything more than nail color on my hands and it looked really nice for the wedding. But after removing it, my nails looked awful. They were damaged and peeling and I couldn’t get them to grow past my nail beds without immediately breaking off.

I’ve been getting Shellac manicures since January. Mine tend to last 3 weeks instead of 2 and my nails have grown long and are very strong with Shellac on them.

Here’s my Shellac manicure at 3 weeks. And, yes, those are my real nails.
